Breeding Schedule 2020-2021

The breeding season kicked off here at Northern Springs Farm on October 1, 2020! It’s the second most exciting time of the year – kidding season still beats it.

Without further ado, here’s the 2020/2021 breeding schedule! Will be adding due dates and those become known so be sure to check back often.

Kiko Herd

(note: both Cedar Point and RPK are my prefixes. The goats were simply registered with different registries.)

EZK Sir Sherlock x EZK Lilo

Lilo AKA Jasmine is a yearling doe who has matured nicely this past summer! I look forward to seeing her kid(s) come March 2020.

This pairing combines several LPR lines and contains a high percentage of U.S bloodlines.

  • Purebred, Registered Kids
  • 1-2 expected
  • Due Date: February 28, 2021

EZK Sir Sherlock x EZK Josephine

Josephine is flashy, well put together yearling. She’s long-bodied and I think she’ll bloom once she’s 2.

Bloodlines are mainly Canadian with a few US goats.

  • Purebred, registered kids
  • 1-2 expected
  • Due Date: March 1, 2021
stella

EZK Sir Sherlock x RPK 19-09 Stellar Results

Stella is a refined, feminine doe I am really looking forward to seeing as a 2yr old. She is a unique combo of US and Canadian lines. Her dam’s bloodlines are not easy to find, as the whole herd was dispersed as unregistered.

  • Purebred, registered kids
  • 1-2 expected
  • Due Date: March 7, 2021

EZK Sir Sherlock x SMF Abby

Abby is one of my favorites does. Hardy, easy keeper, and raises big kids. While the goats in her pedigree are lesser-known, I think it’s a pity the herd she came from was dispersed unregistered.

  • Purebred, registered kids
  • 2 expected
  • Due date: March 1, 2021

EZK Sir Sherlock x Cedar Point 17-10 Indigo Blue

Indigo is a big-bodied, solid girl. The biggest doe here, I look forward to seeing her kids next spring. Plus she has a lovely udder for milking.

She’s also my only 100% New Zealand doe.

Bloodlines are from Northern Kiko Genetics and Rolling Meadows.

  • 100% New Zealand, registered kids
  • 2 expected
  • Due date: March 1 or March 7, 2021
kiko doe

EZK Sir Sherlock x SMF Brittney

Brittney is my easiest keeper. She rarely needs anything and doesn’t need a bit of help with kids. She’s an amazing mom and a nice, deep-bodied girl.

She’s Abby’s half-sister and I look forward to seeing her kids in the spring!

Bloodlines are an interesting mix of the small US and Canadian herds.

  • Purebred, registered kids
  • 2 expected
  • Due date: March 6, 2021

Nigerian Dwarf Herd

I am super excited about this year’s pairings! Both bucks are top-quality boys. Contender’s dad is actually pending permanent grand champion after winning in 3 rings all in one day.

I am hoping to get updated pictures of the girls soon, including the good ones of Ruth and Pumpkin, two new additions. Obviously, some of these pictures are the girls’ young pictures.

Without further ado, here’s the 2020 lineup!

Potting Shed KAJ Kolten x RPK 20-01 I’m a Sunflower

A fun pairing, these kids will be 50% Nigerian, 50% Kiko! Peep and her brother were my first trial run of Nigerian Kikos and I love them. They will make an excellent homestead goat.

Turtlewood GAB Contender x Northern Springs Bo Peep

Peep is my first Nigerian Kiko, and she’s lovely! Smaller than a Kiko gets a bit bigger than a Nigerian, I am expecting her to have a gorgeous udder and be a great homestead goat.

  • 75% Nigerian 25% Kiko
  • 1-2 kids expected
  • Due date: March 9, 2021

A grand total of 17 does due in March. It’s a full breeding schedule for sure. Should be a lot of fun and more than a little crazy 🙂 All Nigerian x Kiko kids (or at least, all the boys) will be available as dehorned bottle babies at 2 weeks of age. All purebred Nigerian Dwarf bucklings will also be sold as such.

What kids are you most looking forward to? I personally cannot wait to see all of them 🙂 At this point though, I am most looking forward to Ruth’s as she’s due so soon.

Enjoy,

Megan
